Please include your Folire version (Settings › Privacy & About), device model, iOS or iPadOS version, the book’s format, and the steps that led to the problem.

The tracker is public. Please don’t post copyrighted books, passwords, private server addresses, personal annotations, or backups, and redact screenshots before attaching them.

Supported books

Folire opens DRM-free EPUB, PDF, CBZ, CBR, TXT, FB2, MOBI, and AZW3 books, plus MP3, M4A, and M4B audiobooks. It can’t open DRM-protected Kindle, Adobe, or library-loan files, and it never removes DRM.

Four public-domain classics from Standard Ebooks are included so you can start reading right away. Folire doesn’t sell or catalog books.

Importing

Add books from Files, iCloud Drive, another Files provider, AirDrop, or the share sheet. Make sure the file has finished downloading in its Files provider before you import it, and that it has a supported extension.

If a MOBI or AZW3 book is rejected as DRM-protected, get a DRM-free copy from its publisher or bookseller. When you import an updated edition of a book you already have, Folire offers to update it, keeping your place, annotations, and reading history, or to keep both copies.

Neural voices

Folire’s natural neural voices use Kokoro, an open text-to-speech model that runs entirely on your iPhone or iPad. What you listen to never leaves your device.

  • They need iOS or iPadOS 26.4 or later and read English books.
  • Download them once (about 93 MB) from the Listen panel while reading, or from Settings › Narration. Until the download finishes, a Standard system voice reads.
  • Folire Free includes neural narration for one book of your choice. Trying a voice in the included classics doesn’t use it up. Folire Pro unlocks all 15 voices in every book.
  • Neural voices use more battery than system voices.

If the download fails, check your connection and tap Try Again. To free space, choose Remove Download in Settings › Narration; you can download the voices again any time.

System voices and playback

Every book can be read aloud with Apple’s built-in voices. Folire Free uses Standard voices; Folire Pro adds Enhanced and Premium voices. For more natural system voices, download a Premium voice in iOS Settings › Accessibility › Read & Speak › Voices.

Narration keeps playing with the screen locked and shows controls on the Lock Screen. If you’d rather keep music or a podcast playing, turn on Play Alongside Other Audio in Settings › Narration; Folire then lowers the other audio instead of pausing it, without Lock Screen controls.

iCloud sync and backups

Optional iCloud library sync (Folire Pro) keeps your books, reading position, notes, highlights, bookmarks, collections, presets, settings, and reading history in your private iCloud storage. Books imported on one device download when you open them on another. Custom fonts and PDF drawings aren’t synced.

If sync seems stuck, check Settings › Sync & Backup and make sure iCloud Drive is turned on for Folire on each device. You can pause sync on one device from the same screen.

For a copy of everything, including books, covers, fonts, PDF drawings, notes, organization, settings, and history, use Export Complete Library Backup. Merge Library Backup restores one without deleting newer items on your device.

OPDS, Calibre, and WebDAV

Folire Pro connects to OPDS 1 and 2 catalogs, Calibre Content Server, and authenticated WebDAV servers you set up. If a connection fails, open the full HTTP or HTTPS address and sign in from a browser on the same network first. Servers on your local network may need Local Network access for Folire in iOS Settings. Folire keeps saved credentials in your device’s Keychain.

Folire Pro

Folire Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks an unlimited library and every advanced feature: all neural voices in every book, Enhanced and Premium system voices, auto-scroll, custom fonts and presets, full-library search, spoiler-safe questions and recaps, annotation export, detailed reading history, direct downloads, network libraries, and iCloud sync.

If Pro doesn’t appear on a new device, tap Restore Purchases in Settings, signed in with the same Apple Account. Optional tips support development and don’t change what the app unlocks.

Privacy

Folire has no account, advertising, tracking, analytics, or developer-operated server. Read the Folire privacy policy for details about local storage, private iCloud sync, servers you choose, exports, and deletion.
